Last Thursday, the 10th of October, marked World Homeless Day; a chance for people across the world to raise awareness of an often overlooked community.
West End Homelessness encouraged all members to take part in the day by wearing orange to raise visibility, hosting an office fundraiser or buying some delicious cookies from our social enterprise, ‘Making the Connection.’
West End Homelessness also organised several activities throughout the day from a bucket collection in Charing Cross station to a Gala dinner where clients helped both create the food and serve on the night.
The day was a massive success with the current total standing at approximately £51,636 which will fund vital services The Connection At St Martin’s provide to people experiencing homelessness in Westminster.
Special Projects Manager for Heart of London Business Alliance (HOLBA), Emily Fahey said:
The Wear Orange campaign for World Homeless Day (WHD) and being a sponsor of the WHD gala has allowed us to engage with more than 50 businesses around street homelessness and to further strengthen our partnership with The Connection At Martin’s. It has been a great opportunity to show our members how they can take action to help vulnerable people on the streets.
